# Canceling a plan and your data

> How canceling a paid Privatus Analytics plan works, what happens to your data on the Free plan, how to delete your workspace, and what to export before you go.

## Cancelling a paid plan

**Workspace settings → Billing → Cancel.** Cancelling takes effect at the
**end of the paid period**: you keep your plan until then. A short
optional survey asks why. You can also **pause** instead, or undo the
cancellation any time before the period ends.

Cancelling doesn't refund the current period. If you want your money
back, ask within 30 days of the payment: see the
[refund policy](/legal/terms#refunds).

When the period ends, the workspace moves to the **Free plan**:

- collection continues within Free limits,
- data older than the Free plan's 6 months of retention is deleted by the
  regular retention job,
- features beyond Free (more goals and funnels, raw exports, SSO…) stop
working. Nothing you created is deleted, but you can't add more until
you're within the Free limits. Upgrading again restores everything.

## Deleting your data

To leave completely, **delete the workspace** (Workspace settings →
General → Delete workspace). It's soft-deleted for 7 days, then permanently
deleted. To undo a deletion, contact support within those 7 days and we'll
restore it. Backups expire within 30 days after that.

You can also delete individual sites, or reset a site's data for a date
range, at any time.

## Before you go

[Export](/docs/reports/exports) anything you want to keep: aggregated
tables, raw events (paid plans) or a dashboard bundle.

## Inactive free accounts

Free workspaces with no sign-ins and no data for 12 months are deleted,
with warnings by email 30 and 7 days before.
