PIPEDA (Canada)
Under PIPEDA, organizations are accountable for personal information they transfer to service providers. Privatus minimizes what it processes, and our terms limit use to providing the service.
Our reasoning
Consent
PIPEDA relies on meaningful consent, which can be implied for uses a person would reasonably expect. Minimized, cookieless measurement is the kind of use visitors generally expect, but explain it clearly in your privacy notice.
Cross-border processing
Data is stored in the United States. Tell visitors that their information may be processed outside Canada.
Where the law is uncertain
Quebec's Law 25 has stricter rules, including on technologies that identify, locate or profile people. Our tracker does none of these, but check Quebec requirements if they apply to you.
