Migration guide

Migrate from Google Analytics 4

The GA4 importer connects with read-only Google access and copies daily aggregates (visitors, visits, pageviews, pages, sources, countries, devices, browsers and operating systems) for the date range you choose.

Import method: GA4 importer (Google sign-in, read-only)

Steps

  1. 1

Create a free account and add your site

Sign up and add the domain. The Free plan needs no card.

  2. 2

Add the Privatus Analytics snippet next to your current tool

Run both for two to four weeks so you can compare numbers and check goals before switching.

  3. 3

    Recreate goals and funnels

Goals apply retroactively in Privatus Analytics, so goals you define now also cover the data collected since you installed the snippet.

  4. 4

    Connect Google Analytics

In Site settings, Imports, choose Google Analytics 4, sign in with Google and grant read-only access. Pick the GA4 property to import.

  5. 5

    Choose the date range

Import everything up to the day before you installed Privatus Analytics, so the two datasets don't overlap.

  6. 6

    Recreate conversions as goals

The importer copies traffic, not events. Recreate your GA4 key events as Privatus Analytics event goals and page-based conversions as page-visit goals. Goals apply retroactively to the data collected since you installed the snippet.

  7. 7

    Review, then remove GA4

Compare a few weeks of numbers, then remove the GA4 tag. If analytics was the only reason for your cookie banner, check with your privacy team whether you still need it.

Start measuring without cookies

No cookies, no fingerprinting and no consent banner needed for measurement.

The free plan includes 10k events a month, 10 sites, 3 team members and 6 months of history. No card required.
